CoAsia (KOSDAQ: 045970, CEO Heejun Lee) announced that its subsidiary, CoAsia SEMI (CEO DS Shin), has signed a supply agreement with Anabatic Semi, a BMS semiconductor design company, for a Baseband SoC for wireless communication processors (wCP) used in wireless Battery Management Systems (BMS). The two companies will accelerate their collaboration in the automotive BMS semiconductor segment through this agreement.
As a Samsung Foundry Design Solution Partner, CoAsia SEMI provides a one-stop customized ASIC service that covers planning, design, production, verification, and delivery. The company has strong capabilities in PPA optimization (power, performance, area) and yield stabilization, which are essential for automotive semiconductors where reliability and on-time delivery are critical. These strengths led to the collaboration between the two companies.
Anabatic Semi is a fabless company specializing in BMS semiconductors and solutions. Founder and CEO Sewoong Jung previously led the development of Samsung’s mobile AP ‘Exynos’ and also oversaw the Samsung Foundry business and Samsung SDI’s large-sized battery division. Leveraging deep expertise in semiconductor and secondary battery technologies, the company recently announced Korea’s first AFE (Analog Front End) semiconductor integrating both battery measurement and diagnostic functions—two key components of BMS.
Under this project, Anabatic Semi will design the baseband modem chip for its wireless BMS solution, while CoAsia SEMI will handle verification and physical implementation (backend). CoAsia SEMI plans to reduce development risk and shorten timelines using proven IPs and platforms, while optimizing performance and efficiency of Anabatic Semi’s baseband modem chip.
With this agreement, CoAsia SEMI expands its business scope into automotive communication and BMS applications. The two companies aim to build complementary positions in mixed-signal (analog–digital) automotive semiconductors and strengthen their competitiveness in responding to global EV market demand. Once mass production begins, the partnership may extend beyond development to include integrated package development and supply.
Meanwhile, CoAsia Electronics, the semiconductor distribution subsidiary within the CoAsia Group, maintains established distribution networks and customer bases across Greater China. The company plans to support the global expansion of Anabatic Semi’s BMS semiconductor business by supplying products to the region through these channels.
"With this contract, we will participate in the development of key chips in the BMS management system (AP) field of Anabatic Semi and respond quickly to the expansion of demand for finished cars and electric vehicle bellwethers at home and abroad," said DS Shin, CEO of CoAsia SEMI. "We will secure high reliability and quality competitiveness in the automotive BMS field based on Coasianmi's differentiated design service expertise and Anabatic Semi's BMS semiconductor development capability."
