CoAsia, which specializes in system semiconductor design solutions, announced on the 29th that it has won an order for the first time in the industry to develop integrated one chip for electronic cigarettes.
The company plans to complete chip development this year and begin mass production in the first half of next year.
The integrated core chip for electronic cigarettes received this time is a one-chip that combines three core chips required for operating e-cigarettes.
It is a structure developed by CoAsia SEMI and Nexell in collaboration and produced by Samsung Foundry, and delivered to end customers.
As manufacturing costs can be reduced by more than 40%, it is expected that it will have the best competitive edge in price.
At the same time, the size of circuit boards can be reduced by nearly half, securing large battery space and realizing a compact design.
The chip is also equipped with a super-fast charging function, reducing device charging time by half, and plans to obtain a global safety certification(IEC60730) for heat and battery safety.
According to the World Health Organization(WHO), the global e-cigarette market is expected to grow to $50 billion by 2030.
An official from the company said, “This order is a turnkey method that CoAsia proceeds directly from design to mass production. As a Samsung Foundry Dedicated DSP(Design Solution Partner), we continue to receive orders from global top tier customers.”
Meanwhile, CoAsia announced last month that it will establish CoAsia SEMI US in Silicon Valley, California, and officially launch in June.
The company said, “We are currently designing for mobile and consumer electronics companies based on more than 25 years of Chinese customer networks, and we are preparing for new applications such as artificial intelligence(AI).” “We have decided to establish a local corporation in the United States to expand our foundry business globally through active sales activities.”
